We booked this hotel online through (www.asiarooms.com). We arrived in Hanoi at 9 PM so the hotel picked us up at the airport for $10. Our room is in front with a balcony look over the street with TV, mini bar, telephone, chair, computer, internet and very large and nice bathroom. Good breakfast and friendly staff. I am sure this hotel is a good choice.

The Tien Thuy is excellent value for money in Hanoi's Old Quarter. Rooms are relatively spacious and service is friendly and efficient without being pushy. And when you consider there's a lift, and breakfast and Internet are included in the price, it's hard to find anything wrong with this place.
Sure, it's not right in the middle of the Old Quarter and the 25 rooms aren't five-star (officially, they're two-star), but they are quite tastefully done. The floors are faux wood, the furnishings are of carved wood and the bathrooms are big, mostly well designed and surprisingly attractive given the dominant features are green or brown tiles. The part that is not so well designed is the bathroom phone (yes, even a throne phone) which is a long way from the toilet. But really, who ever actually talks on the phone while they're sitting on the throne anyway? Or perhaps the phone by the basin is a stroke of multitasking genius... Whatever, the Tien Thuy is a good deal. Don't believe those nasty airport taxi drivers who tell you it's burnt down, or full, or gone bad...
